Dirk Bauermann

Born in Uberhausen on December 10th of 1957. Started his coaching career in Bayer Leverkouzen (1989), where he led the team in Europe's elite. He sat in the club's bench for 9 straight seasons, until 1998 when he moved to Ostande.

In 1999 he responded to the calling from Greece and coached Apollon Patras, before returning to Germany to work in Brant Hagen. In 2001 he came back to Greece and coached Dafni. From 2001 until 2008 he was named head coach of Bamberg, who became the powerhouse of German Basketball, participating in the Euroleague.

He has won 9 championships (1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996 with Bayer and 2005, 2007 with Bamberg), four cups (1990, 1991, 1993, 1995 with Bayer) and has also been named four times "coach of the year"  (1990, 1991, 2003, 2004).

He has also worked as national team coach, a role he still obtains. He sat on the bench of the German National Team for the first time in 1994, where he played against Greece in the World Championship of Toronto. He returned to the "nacionalmansaft" on 2003.

On 2005 Germany won the silver medal in Beograd (losing to Greece in the final), on 2006 the team finished 8th in the World Championship, while on 2007 the Germans got the 5th place.

 

Coach Θεόδωρος Ροδόπουλος is concidered the "guru" of Greek Basketball. He has been an active member of the US Basketball Coaches Association for 34 years. He has worked in XANTH, the Greek National Team, PAOK, Dimokritos anf Philippos. He has also worked as a technical supervisor in many teams. In Salonica he has created for many years now his own basketball school, the "Stars Academy" and for 28 years now he is the owner of the famous "Salonica Basketball Camp", which was the first Basketball Camp in Greece (1983). He is the vice-president of the Greek Basketball Coaches Association. He has also lectured in many international clinic, the last one was on 2005 in London next to the legendery Dean Smith.

 

Elias Zouros was named "coach of the year" in Eurocup. Over the last few years  he has known great success with Panellinios, participating in the Eurocup's final-four and the A1's semi-finals. He has worked in many A1 teams like Olympiakos, Aris and Near  East. He has also worked as an assistant coach in Maroussi, Olympiakos and Panionios. The team of Nea Smirni was his first coaching experience, winning the Championship in Juniors. He has also worked in Palaio Faliro, while he has foreign experience in France (Rasing Paris) and Lebanon winning the Asian Championship.

Giorgos Kalafatakis is one of the most experienced coaches in A1 League.  He started his career in Ampelokipous, where he made history: the team advanced six different categories in six straight years and from the local divisions of ESKA made it through the A1 league! He has also worked in Estia Filias and Paneleusiniakos, beforing opening the "A1 chapter" in his career. After Ampelokipoi came Herakleion, AEK, Dafni, Apollon (A2), Ionikos, Panionios, Makedonikos, Panellinios, AEL, PAOK and GS Olympia.

Vaggelis Aggelou besides an experienced coach is concidered a great lecturers, as he has proven in his participation in the Clinic for Young Players and the Local Clinic of the GBCA. He started his head coaching career in Chalkida, before working with Dusan Ivkovic (Dynamo Moscow) and Panagiotis Giannakis (Maroussi). On 2007 he was named head coach of AEK, while last year he helped Trikala stay on the A1 League. This year he left the club due to financial problems.

George Dikaioulakos was the big winner of the yeras, as Athinaikos won all three titles (championship, cup amd Eurocup). The last couple of years was full of success for the Greek coach who also won the Championship the season before, while during the summer he won the Gold Medal in the U-22 European Championship (as the assistant coach next to Kostas Missas). He also helped the Women's Team qualify to the World Championship for the first time. This year he was also named national team coach of Latvia. He has also worked in Men's team like Faliro (youth teams), Akadimia Ilioupolis, Papagou and as an assistant coach in Milonas, Daphni, Panionios, Olympiakos and Panellinios.
