Vaggelis Alexandris in AEL

alexandris.jpgOne of the most experienced coaches is the new "boss" of AEL. The word is for Vaggelis Alexandris who ill return in Larissa. He was sitting in the bench of Gimnastikos (then named AEL) in 1994.

The announcement of AEL says: "The AEL administration announces the begging of a coperation with Vaggelis Alexandris. He is concidered one of the most important coaches in the country and the only that has won two European cups.

He has related his name with the team from Larissa, because from 1992 until 1995 he has the head oach of the team and he is considered one of the three most recognized basketball figures of the team (the other two is the minister Giannis Ioannidis and the internation referee Lazaros Voreadis).

Mr. Alexandris has great experience and many succesfull moments. After 1995 he "moved" in Patras and Apollona where he stayed until 1997. The next year he went to Iraklis and the next year in Irakleion.

In 1999 and until 2001 he led Maroussi and after that he was named head coach in POK. From 2002 until 2004 he sat on the bench of Aris and the next two years he moved back in Larissa as the head coach of Olympia. During the season 2006-2007 he worked in AEK and PAOK. Last year (2007-2008) he went to Kolossos Rhodes.

Mr. Alexandris has four appearances in the greek cup's final-four, with Apollonas in 1996 and 1997, with Maroussi in 1999 and Aris in 2003. In 1997 and 2003 he participated to the cup's final game.

His biggest success in the european level was in 2001 when he won the Saporta Cup with Maroussi and in 2003 when he won the Champions Cup. We also have to underline for the younger fans that as an athlete he was on of the greatest players of his time and a member of the national team".
